Final Summary Post

After many weeks of expanding my entrepreneurial idea, My golf club fitting/ swing analysis has made me think.  To put all my ideas from each post and make it a real business would be very challenging.  My entrepreneurial idea has really evolved.  This project made me think if my idea would really work.  I also had to relate every part of my idea back to what we were talking about in lecture.  This was difficult.  For example, in the beginning, having to relate anything to social media was not that difficult.  Social media can be used in any business.  Whether you want to spread a message or get some feedback, then social media is useful.  On the other hand, having to relate my idea to networks was a bit more challenging.  For golf club fitting/ swing analysis, networking is not extremely important.  Yes, if I want to communicate through email and the web then off course I use networking, but most of the science behind my business is the hardware.  I always have to make sure I have the correct equipment and hardware in order to be successful.
This project has been very beneficial.  It really has taught me a great deal about the entrepreneurial world.  I would definitely recommend this project to be used in the future.  This project makes you think and explore new ideas.  Being an entrepreneur is difficult.  After complete this project, I fully understand what is takes to be an entrepreneur and how you must really think on your feet.  One bad decision can ruin the whole purpose of your main purpose.  As an entrepreneur you are always taking chances.

Week 7- Networks

In today's world we rely on the internet for almost everything.  Internet is especially important in today's sports industry.  In the golf industry, we are now able to learn so much more with the use of the internet.  For example, we can now chat in real time with teaching professionals without being physically present.  We can also use phones that will video your swing and analyze it for you.  The way it is being analyzed is through the use of networking.  For my golf swing analysis business, we can do just this.
We would also have to build a good user friendly website.  We would contact ICANN.org and come up with a domain name.  ICANN.org manages all domain names.  After building a strong website, we use packets and protocols to receive and transmit information to and from the customer.  By using networks we can use a FTP protocol which transfers files from a local server to a remote server.  This is process is how we will receive the video of the customers swing.  After analyzing it, we then can send it back by email.  When we send it back we would use the IMAP protocol, which defines how the email client receives the message.
Networking is necessary when it comes to my entrepreneurial idea.  It allows my business to run more efficiently and gives the customer more options rather than always having to stop and see me at a driving range.

Week 6 - Blog review post

This week I looked at some well know bloggers.  Since my entrepreneurial idea has everything to do with golf, I found a blogger who writes about the sport of golf.  His blog is slightly different than mine because he mostly blogs about what is going on in the golf world.   The author of Armchair Golf Blog is Neil Sagebiel.  He enjoys writing about the game of golf.  Neil has been blogging since August 2005 and continues to blog today.   He definitely has a voice in the world of sports blogging.  Neil's blog is a very news oriented blog.  Besides just what is happening in the golf world, the Armchair Golf Blog also has many interviews with the most influential players in the game.  This part of the blog attracts a stronger fan base.  He also adds some humor to all of his blog posts in order to attract a more youthful audience.  Finally, One of the things I liked most about this blog was that it included short videos.  Videos can go a long way.

Week 5 - Bits/Bytes/Storage

For this weeks post its al about relating my entrepreneurial idea to bits, bytes, and storage.  Since my golf swing/ club fitting analysis business has everything to do with technology it is is important to have the right amount of storage.  Now when I work with each customer, he or she will have their own swing profile which is stored in the system.  Now when the business begins to grow, I will have many images and videos that I must save.  It's all about the bits versus the bytes.
How many mega bytes, giga bytes, or terra bytes makes a difference.  The way I see it if it does not cost to much, its better to have more than less.  You never want to run out of space when it comes to running a company.  Also, I am thinking about giving a copy of each golf lesson to the customer.  I would use a dvd RW to put the video on.  This way the customer can look back on his or her lesson if needed.

Week 4- Input/Output/RFID

As I begin to develop my entrepreneurial idea of a golf swing analysis/ club fitting system input and output are very important.  Having the right camera to film or take still pictures of the swing is so important.  Making sure I have a sufficient camera with the right amount of megapixels.  Most likely I would need a camera that would be more than eight megapixels so I could make large prints of a Golfers swing.  Then comes the time figure out what is a good printer to show the customer there photos and allow them to take the images home to look at.
Also, I could possibly use RFID tags.  I would attach a small tag to his or her golf bag so when they walked into my store, My computer system would know whose swing to bring up or if they were a new customer, the system would create a new account for them.  This would make the process of putting a customers information into the computer much easier.  Although this might be somewhat expensive, but it would be well worth it.

Week 3- Hardware

Hardware is very important in order for my entrepreneurial idea to succeed.  For a golf swing, club fitting analysis business you need to have the right components for your computers.  Information is being processed and must be stored properly.  Also, the company would be downloading multiple applications and software.  Having the right hardware is important.
When a customer comes in to get fitted for golf clubs they expect the software to work properly.  Making sure there is a proper processor being used is key.  Also having the correct amount of cache, a sound card, and video card are important for customer satisfaction.  When a golf swing is being analyzed many numbers are being processed.  The rate and amount of information that can be stored as well as used is important because this is a process that the customer is one hundred percent part of.

Week 2- Social media/Privacy/spreadsheets

For my entrepreneurial idea, I would use twitter to get my company out there.  I could recruit employees.  Also, twitter is a great way to converse back and forth with the consumer and get feedback on what the consumer is looking for.  Being able to promote the brand would be key for success.
When using certain social media websites I would have to make sure my website and other social media outlets were protected.  When putting my companies information on facebook or twitter, I would have to adjust the privacy settings.  Make sure the company is safe, assures the customer that we can be trusted.
In order to organize all my customers swing data I would use microsoft exel.  Microsoft exel is a great way to organize information.  If I were able to put all the important number into charts, I could show the customer how I am building an individualized set of golf equipment.   I would also use exel for keeping track of bank records and making sure my companies finances are managed properly.

Week 1- Ideas Golf fitting

I would like to be the next new business that provides golf swing analysis and golf club fitting.  In order to get my business out there I could use social media.  I could use Facebook or Twitter.  I could use social media to get feedback on customer experience.
In order to be successful I would have to use a ton of technology.  All of the software would be very important.  Making sure all the numbers are correct when helping someone improve there golf swing is important.  I would use a main software that I could send all of the specifications and data off to the lab so that a golf club could be made.
Although there are many businesses out there already mine would be different.  I will make the customer feel special and part of the whole process.  Being able to see launch angles and ball speed and lie and loft of golf club are very important.
